Remove Your Window Screens
You will first need to remove your window screens from their frames, making sure that you make not of which window your screen came from if you are doing multiple screens at the same time. You can easily keep track of this by marking a number on the bottom of your screen correlating to each window.
Prepare Your Cleaning Fluid
Mix a small amount of your gentle soap into your warm water. You don’t want to go overboard as too much soap can cause some serious hiccups in the cleaning process. We recommend a 10:1 ratio of water to soap or even less than that. Make sure that you aren’t using abrasive or overly powerful soap as this can cause your window screen to become discolored or brittle.
Scrub Your Screens
Now that your cleaning fluid is mixed and ready, use your soft-bristled brush to scrub the screens clean. If your screens are extremely dirty or if you have a large number of screens to clean, you might want to use a large brush to make the job a bit easier on yourself. Smaller brushes can be extremely useful to get into cracks or seams, so you may want to use one of each.
Rinse & Dry Your Screens
Once your screens have been cleaned thoroughly, you need to make sure that all of the soap residue is washed off completely. Rinse the remaining soap off with water from either a bucket, a faucet, or a hose. Make sure that you get all of the soap off as any left on the screen can cause staining and discoloration. After they have been fully rinsed, either place your screens in the sun to dry or dry them thoroughly with a towel.
Replace Your Screens
Once your screens are completely clean and dry, you can reinstall your screens back into the appropriate windows. Make sure that you follow the labels you wrote down earlier if you were doing multiple windows.
